More information

The slightly cup-shaped flowers of Jacqueline du Pre are creamy white with a pale pink reverse; the petals appear luminous in cloudy light and bright when backlit by sun. Long pink stamens, of varied lengths, form a clear accent in the bloom. Flowers are borne in clusters of 3–11 and are accompanied by dark, disease-resistant foliage. The shrub is rather prickly and vigorous. It performs well with minimal pruning and with removal of spent blooms.

It produces wide-open blooms, contrasted by dark green foliage, throughout the season. The shrub is branched and strong-growing. Prune by removing only dead and broken branches, or prune more firmly if larger blooms are desired.

The flowers are almost white with a pink tinge. A distinguishing feature is the red stamens in the centre. The blooms are persistent, maintaining their appearance under unfavourable conditions. They are simple, with 10 petals, and each petal is intricately curved. Flower diameter is about 8 cm. The fragrance is strong, with musk and lemon notes. Flowering is profuse. Blooms are carried in tasselled inflorescences that open sequentially, extending the display of each cluster. Flowering starts early, sometimes 4 weeks before other roses, and the first flush is quickly followed by another, for a total of three per season. The shrub is dense and spreading, about 1.4 m tall and 1.1 m wide. It is hardy, manages in unfavourable conditions, and tolerates semi-shade. The leaves are matte. It can suffer from black spot in the second half of the season.

The fragrant, lily-like flowers of Jacqueline du Pre resemble Nevada in colour and shape, with amber-coloured stamens. The shrub rarely exceeds 1.2 m, and the foliage is soft lime green. This semi-trending rose blooms through summer without interruption.

A branched, vigorous shrub to 1.5 m with dark green, glossy foliage. The flowers are semi-double, fragrant, ivory with a pink tinge, with festooned petal edges and reddish-gold stamens. This disease-resistant rose prefers an open, sunny position.

A dome-shaped shrub with dense, dark green foliage that retains its appearance for an extended period. From early May until late autumn it produces white clusters of flowers, creating the effect of a shrub densely covered in bloom. At close range, the young flowers are pale pink and semi-double; as they open, they become white, almost flat, up to 10 cm in diameter. The centre displays striking orange stamens and yellow pollen that attract bees and other insects. Opening buds are particularly fragrant. The scent is light, fresh, musky and lemony.
