More information
Irene Watts blooms are soft pink, with slightly brighter and darker petal reverses, and apricot and salmon tones at the center. As the petal edges fade to pale pink, darker patches often remain on the bloom. Flowers open from loosely frilled buds, borne in clusters of 3–11. The shrub is dense and branched, with many small laterals, and growth is not vigorous. Height depends on the amount of heat received and rarely exceeds 1 m. Pruning is generally limited to the removal of diseased and weak shoots. The foliage is pale and thin, with narrow leaflets, and is susceptible to black spot in humid climates. Flowering is continuous.
The variety is recommended for zone 7.
