More information
The name honors the Canadian Red Cross; Hope for Humanity was designated to mark its centenary. This shrub from the Morden series was bred specifically for the cold winters of Manitoba. The flowers are deep purple with densely packed petals; the opening buds resemble Hybrid Tea roses, and fully open blooms show a white spot at the center. They are borne in loose clusters of 3–5, sometimes more. Hope for Humanity blooms until the first frost. In cold climates it seldom exceeds 75 cm in height, but, like most modern roses, it performs well in hot conditions. The foliage is dark; black spot may occur at times.
