Guy de Maupassant is a floribunda bearing strongly scented, old-style blooms. The blooms are cup-shaped, with a mass of twisted, corrugated petals in the center encircled by a ring of outer petals. They are dark pink with a light pink reverse, broad, and sometimes flatten. They appear singly, or more often in brushes of up to five blooms. The plant shows disease resistance and flowers in waves.

Pink, densely waved blooms appear in brushes; initially deeply cup-shaped, 6–7 cm in diameter, later becoming flatter. The scent is apple-like. Flowers in early summer, then in waves with medium vigor until the end of the season. Foliage is glossy, bright green. The bush is branched and erect. Disease resistance is reported as good.
