The rose is a grandiflora type with bicolored flowers: pink with cream streaks, a yellow base, and a cream reverse. Blooms are cup-shaped, double, with up to about 40 petals, and very large, measuring approximately 10.8–12 cm in diameter. Flowers are borne singly or in clusters of up to about 20 and appear repeatedly in flushes throughout the flowering season. The rose has a strong fragrance.
The foliage is dark green, glossy, and leathery. The shrub is upright, dense, vigorous, and can reach a height of up to 100 cm. The variety is described as disease resistant.
This rose was bred in 1965 by Zinaida Konstantinovna Klimenko in Ukraine and by Vera Nikolaevna Klimenko in the former USSR. The name refers to Gurzuf, a coastal locality near Yalta.
