More information

‘Guna’ is a Hybrid Rugosa rose bred at the Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR (now the Salaspils Botanical Garden) by Dr. Dzidra Alfredovna Rieksta and introduced in 1981.

The flowers are deep pink with purple shading, semi-double to double, and semi-twisted in form. Each bloom has about 15–20 petals, is borne in small to medium clusters (inflorescences), and has an average diameter of approximately 3.5 inches (9 cm). The rose flowers repeatedly in flushes throughout the growing season.

The shrub is dense, 120–150 cm tall, and strongly armed with thorns. The foliage is medium-sized, dark green, semi-glossy, and distinctly wrinkled (rugose). The plant is suitable for cultivation in USDA hardiness zones 6b to 9b.
