More information
Grand Siesle is notable for bloom size; this variety carries some of the largest rose flowers. With adequate feeding and watering, and in cool, dry conditions, blooms can reach up to 20 cm in diameter. They develop from large, elongated buds; the centers are bright pink, fading to pale pink at the edges. In hot climates the coloration is lighter, sometimes pearly pink with creamy margins. When fully open, bright red stamens are visible at the center. Flowers are usually borne singly on long, sturdy shoots, suitable for cutting and display. In autumn, clusters of up to 6 blooms may occur. Foliage is large and disease resistant; prickles are large; shoots are thick. The shrub is vigorous and supports large blooms.
Blooms are double, up to 15 cm, soft pink. The color is a blend of cream and pink. As the flower opens, the outer petals turn cream-white, with the pink hue remaining mainly in the center. Buds are large, with broad petals, and open slowly. Fragrance is strong, predominantly rose, with notes of raspberry, strawberry, and apple.
