Grand Hotel bears bright red blooms with dark crimson petal tips. Petals are semi-wavy; flowers are medium to large, 9–11 cm across, and without fragrance. Petals are velvety and dense in various red tones. Blooms are produced on sturdy, upright shoots, singly or in small clusters of up to 5, throughout summer and autumn. Foliage is stiff, dark, glossy; the shrub reaches 5 m. Very winter-hardy.
Buds are pointed. Flowers are bright blood-red, velvety, long-lasting, large (9–10 cm), double (27 petals), faintly fragrant, in small inflorescences; petals may shatter during bloom. Leaves are dark green, large, glossy, healthy. Shrubs are broad and well-leafed. Flowering is abundant, late, and repeat-blooming. For group plantings. Introduced by GBS in 1977.
