More information
Golden Years shows hallmark Harkness traits: dark foliage, vivid colouring, and wavy petals. The blooms are pale orange with gold and apricot tones. Darker pigment on the petal reverse creates dark golden shadows between the petals, even at full bloom. It retains its colour in bright sun, and although the flowers open wide, the high petal count keeps the stamens hidden. The foliage is glossy dark green, and the shoots are markedly prickly. The variety is commonly given in the UK as a retirement gift.
Flowers with 46 petals are golden yellow and faintly fragrant. Classified as an English rose type, it has many-petalled, wide-opening blooms on straight, weakly branched stems and flowers fairly abundantly. It shows disease resistance.
