More information
Lubecker Rotspon is named for the Lübeck red wine that was imported from Bordeaux and matured in the Hanseatic city; writers describe the rose as burgundy red. A low-growing floribunda. The flowers are dark red, the same shade on both sides of each petal, later becoming almost black. Medium-sized, slightly cup-shaped blooms with many small, short petals. They appear in brushes of 3–11 (usually 5–7); petals drop cleanly after flowering. The bush is low and tidy, with dark green, glossy foliage, very resistant to diseases, with slight susceptibility to black spot. It is among the last to begin flowering, then blooms almost continuously until autumn.
Dark, velvety-red flowers in well-formed brushes. The bush is compact, erect, up to 75 cm, with shiny, dark green foliage. Blooms for an extended period. A winter-hardy variety. Cut back spent blooms to encourage re-blooming.
