More information
Although this rose is listed as a plumeria, Gites de France can be trained as a tall shrub. It produces an early first flush; later blooms appear in smaller numbers. The flowers are semi-double, pale crimson, with irregular wavy petals and white streaks at the bases. Dark yellow stamens create a focal point in the center. Blooms appear sometimes singly, but more often in dense clusters of 3–10, and they tolerate rain very well. At times there are especially large sprays with up to 25 clusters on the bush. It is a vigorous variety with thick shoots and many thorns. The dark green foliage shows good resistance to powdery mildew and rust, but is susceptible to black spot. Hardy and tolerant of poor soils. Commonly grown in Germany.
