More information
Named in memory of an old friend; this rose shows vigorous growth, healthy foliage, and high disease resistance. The blooms are a delicate pink. At the start of flowering they are cup-shaped; later the outer petals lighten and curve downward. The scent combines classic rose notes with a hint of green apple.
A thick, branching shrub 1.2–1.5 m tall, bearing large cup-shaped flowers borne in clusters. Individual blooms are about 10 cm in diameter, in a warm, delicate pink that does not burn out. The fragrance is noticeable but fades as the blooms droop.
A modern Austin variety named after an English television personality. Each bloom forms a rosette, with many small petals overlying larger outer petals. The color is delicate pink; the outer petals fade, in cold climates to pale pink and in hot climates to almost white. Fragrant. Flowers appear singly or, more often, in small clusters on long shoots. It is a regular repeat bloomer; with good care, the shrub stays in flower. The bush is strong and dense, and the foliage shows disease resistance.
