Rose GABRIELE D’ANNUNZIO (Gabrielle D’Annunzio) — a 2020/2021 novelty — is a remontant hybrid tea rose introduced by the nursery Rose Barni in the Le Toscane series. The variety is the result of many years of work by Beatrice Barni, the hybridiser of this historic nursery founded in 1882.
The variety was bred as a dedication to a notable figure in Italian history who loved roses. It forms a stable bush with flowers of intense velvety red and very dense petals. Buds are graceful and elongated, opening very slowly into large, very double, old-fashioned rosette-shaped corollas. The colour is bright red, shading from dark to velvety tones as it opens. The fragrance is medium-strong, subtle, slightly fruity. Flowering continues until late autumn.
Tall, upright bush 80–100 cm high and 50–60 cm wide, with broad dark green foliage, very resistant to disease.
