More information
Folklore is a long-lasting cut rose with very vigorous growth and a strong, sweet fragrance. Blooms open from elongated, pointed buds. The usual initial color is dark orange-pink, fading to salmon-pink with a creamy yellow reverse; the color varies with season and weather to bright coral, orange, or delicate salmon. Petals are dense and rain-resistant, and flowers appear singly or in clusters of up to 9. Foliage is large and glossy, with young growth bright crimson. Some susceptibility to powdery mildew. Very strong-growing; in hot climates it reaches 2.5 metres. Has won numerous awards at exhibitions. Blooms profusely, repeats well, and responds strongly to fertiliser.
This hybrid tea rose requires ample space; with sufficient room it produces sunset-coloured blooms. Rounded, elongated, bright orange buds open to high-centred double flowers 11–13 cm in diameter, salmon pink with peach-yellow on the underside of the petals. The fragrance is strong; flowers usually appear in early summer, followed by a moderate summer bloom and another profuse wave in autumn. Shoots are robust and very prickly. The bush is vase-shaped, vigorous, sometimes spreading. It can reach 150–180 cm in height and 120–150 cm in width. Commonly placed at the back of a border; can also be trained as a pleached rose. Suitable for cutting. Seldom affected by disease.
