R. foetida persiana, also known as Persian Yellow and other synonyms, is a Hybrid Foetida/Lutea species rose. Flowers are golden-yellow with occasional carmine-red streaks, have about 40 petals, small globular blooms, and an unpleasant fragrance. Average flower diameter is about 6 cm. It blooms once in spring or summer. The plant has spreading growth, armed with thorns or prickles, and small, semi-glossy, fragrant foliage with 7 leaflets. Height ranges from 150 to 200 cm and width from 120 to 150 cm. It is suitable for USDA zone 3b and warmer. The cultivar is vigorous and susceptible to blackspot. The breeder is unknown; it was discovered in the United Kingdom in 1837 and was introduced in Australia in 1861 as 'Persian Yellow'.
