More information

Fair Bianca is an English Rose by Austin with white blooms. Flowers open from small red-brown buds; they are pure white with a creamy tinge at the centre. The blooms are densely filled with many short petals, initially open-cup-shaped, later flattening, sometimes with a central button. They appear in clusters of 3–9 and perform well as cut flowers. The foliage is dark and glossy, with susceptibility to diseases, especially black spot. The shrub is compact, low, and upright: it does not exceed 1 m in height, which suits small gardens. Shoots are covered with small thorns.

Fair Bianca produces symmetrical, moderately sized flowers, densely petalled and rosette-shaped, with a creamy tint at the base of the petals. The fragrance is strong, of myrrh. The bush is branching and upright, with rather sparse light green foliage and numerous small thorns.

A rounded, compact shrub that maintains a compact habit; suitable for container growing. The flowers are creamy white with a pink flush on the outer petals. The scent is distinctive and intense, compared to floral soap and damask roses with spicy tones; described by Austin as myrrh; also reported as aniseed- or soap-like. Flowering is not heavy, and the variety is prone to disease in hot climates.

This English rose produces densely clustered, cup-shaped rosettes 8–10 cm in diameter. The flowers are pure white or cream, sometimes with a pink tinge in the centre. When the clusters are fully open, a green button can be visible in the centre. The fragrance is intense. It blooms in waves and re-blooms quickly. The foliage is light green. The bush is erect and branched, 90–120 cm high and wide. Used in mixed borders. Often planted in groups of 3 or more to create a white mass effect. Stands well as a cut flower. Disease resistance is average; use preventive treatments.

Shade-tolerant cultivar.
