More information
Few bush roses have their plein air sports become more popular than the original; Etoile de Hollande is an exception. The bush form was a popular bed rose in the 1920s and 1930s of the 20th century, and is still quite widespread, but at present it cannot compete in popularity with its pleached sport. The rose bears small, not very double flowers with loosely arranged petals, a bright, velvety red colour, and a very strong fragrance. The spiny bush shows medium vigour of growth and rarely grows taller than 1 m, even in hot climates. Flowers appear singly or in small clusters of 2–5 flowers on slightly drooping shoots. The flowers open quickly. Repeated flowering is abundant.
