More information
Jack Harkness gave this rose the name Escapade because its blooms were frequently covered with bees. It originates from a cross between a pink floribunda and a purple polyanthus rose. The semi-double flowers are lilac-pink with a white center and bright yellow stamens. The color fades quickly in heat, so in hot climates the blooms appear as a pale pink. The unopened buds, however, remain consistently bright crimson, creating a marked contrast with the nearly continuous display of open flowers. The shrub is well-branched, freely branching, and carries pale green, glossy foliage. It shows strong disease resistance in both hot and cold climates, though in hot, humid conditions it can be slightly affected by black spot.
