More information
The colouring combines orange and yellow tones associated with flame, and pink shades appear as the blooms age. When the large buds open, long petals are revealed; not fully opened flowers later become cup-shaped. A fully open flower with 30 petals reaches 10 cm in diameter. Fragrance is faint, with a spicy, musky note. Flowers are borne in clusters. The flowers are large and sufficient to make the bush appear in full bloom. Flowering repeats at the end of the season. This pleached rose shows moderate growth and is used where space for larger plants is limited. The branches are stiff and less flexible than usual, and they are used for the traditional fan arrangement. A mature plant reaches 2.1–3.3 metres in height and can cover an area 1.8–2.7 metres wide. It needs direct sunlight for part of the day; avoid very shady sites and exposures to the north-west, north, and north-east. It grows well in most areas except cold regions. The leaves are dense red at first and then turn green. The leaves are large and healthy and provide a good background for the flowers. A stressed plant is susceptible to black spot, so it needs to be well fertilised.
