More information
A rose of the Explorer series. The variety derives its winter hardiness from the rose Assiniboine and the species R. arkansana, and its coloration from the crimson tea-hybrid rose Crimson Glory. Cuthbert Grant produces dark red-purple flowers with grey-green foliage. The blooms are cup-shaped and appear in clusters of 3–9 on long pedicels. The central pedicels bend under the weight of the flowers, and the slender pedicels contrast with the thick, stiff shoots on which they are borne. The variety is among the first to bloom, then pauses for an extended period before reblooming, with subsequent flowers showing stronger purple tones. Very resistant to disease.
