More information
This Meidiland-series cultivar is not truly crimson but bright scarlet, with white streaks at the base of some petals. Meidiland roses are bred for disease resistance, ease of care, and winter hardiness. Crimson Meidiland is used for mass plantings where its bright red colour harmonises with neighbouring plants, and it is also suitable for small gardens and containers. The flowers are semi-double, slightly cupped, and tolerate rain and sun well. They appear singly or in clusters of up to 5. The dark green foliage is highly disease resistant; the shrub is strong and winter-hardy. The first flowering is very abundant, followed by repeated waves until late autumn, with few flowers between waves.
Bright red flowers that do not fade in the sun, abundant ornamental foliage, and strong disease resistance are key characteristics of the cultivar. Shrubs with straight, sturdy shoots and good branching form a framework for flowering hedges about 1.2 m high and for bright accents on a lawn. To create a vivid red focal point, plant three bushes closely (in a triangle, 30–40 cm apart) and then train them as a single bush.
