From an elongated bud (about 4 cm), cup-shaped flowers with about 35 petals develop. The foliage is dense and glossy; young leaves are reddish-brown, and mature leaves are medium green. Spikes are medium-sized, few in number, reddish on young shoots and greenish-pink on mature wood.
