The Romantica series was developed by Maison Meillan in response to the growing demand for roses that combine the form and fragrance of old roses with the colour palette and repeat blooms of modern roses. Colette serves as an example of this concept. The blooms are very full, composed of masses of short, broad, wavy petals. They start cup-shaped, then open further as they mature and the flowers become flattened. The colour is pale apricot, with mustard-yellow tones at the centre, fading to lighter toward the edges; the reverse side of the petals is always paler. Flowers are produced singly or in small clusters, rarely more than three. The plant is strong-growing, with dark green foliage.
