A domestic variety bred in Crimea in 2009 and dedicated to Chatyr-Dag. Shrubs up to 0.8 m high, with sturdy shoots and dark-green matte foliage. Double, dark red, cup-shaped flowers up to 12 cm in diameter bloom during the season.
Chatyr-Dag is a mountain massif in the southern part of the Crimean Peninsula, 10 km from the sea, the fifth highest in Crimea, belonging to the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains.
Included in the State Register of the Russian Federation. Garden group: Tea-hybrid. The bush is upright, height 80 cm; shoots green. Spines needle-shaped, reddish, numerous. The leaf is large, elliptic, semi-glossy. Flowers are borne singly and in inflorescences of 3, open; the peduncle is strong, 50 cm long. The flower is cup-shaped, double. Bud and flower color: dark red. Fragrance is weak. Bud opening is slow; flowering is moderate. Remontant. Start of the first flowering wave on 27 May, end of the last wave on 28 October. According to the applicant, the variety shows strong resistance to powdery mildew and rust; heat tolerance is strong; drought tolerance is average. Recommended for the North Caucasus region.
