A 2007 introduction by French breeder Andre Eve. Salmon-pink. Strong tea-rose fragrance with citrus notes.
Throughout the day at Rundale Palace, music played in the halls and parks, French speech was heard, and glasses clinked. The closing event of the XIII International Festival of Early Music and the French Spring Festival took place here. The rose functioned as a central motif of the festival. The rose is the symbol of Rundale Palace. Roses appeared on the dresses of the ladies, and rose petals were scattered into the garden ponds. The palace rose garden, which already contains hundreds of rose bushes from around the world, was supplemented with three more specimens sent from the Valdemarne rose garden in France. Breeders there developed a new flower—soft pink with a peach tint, pale edges, and a full, “curly” center. The rose was named Chateau de Rundale (“Rundale Palace”), and the park hosted a ceremony to mark the occasion. Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Aigars Štokenbergs planted the bush, poured champagne over it, and sprinkled the bed with pink petals. The bush sent from France arrived without flowers, so the appearance of the Rundale rose was shown on postcards printed for the event. It was expected to take root and bloom in due course.
