More information
Charity is a small Austin variety of saffron-yellow colour. The flowers are slightly cupped and large, with almost white outer petals surrounding a mass of smaller, often wavy inner petals. They open deep yellow or amber, a little darker on the underside, and then fade slightly. Blooms appear singly or in clusters of up to 7. The fragrance is rich and myrrh-like. The bush is stiff, upright, and susceptible to black spot. The variety was named in honour of the National Gardens Scheme, the UK’s largest gardening charity.
