More information

Blooms are large, 10–11 cm; when fully open, a mass of small, dark yellow inner petals contrasts with paler, larger outer petals. In the first bloom, flowers usually appear singly, as in hybrid tea roses; in the second bloom, they appear in clusters, as in floribundas. Fragrance is intense, fruity. The shrub is upright, winter-hardy, with large, glossy foliage, reaching 3–4 m.

Buds are elongated and pointed. Blooms are lemon-yellow, goblet-shaped, large (8–9 cm), double (40 petals), tea-scented. Petals are broad, narrowing and becoming shallower toward the center; flowers are solitary or in small inflorescences of 3–5. Leaves are dark green and very glossy. Spines are large. Shrubs exceed 2 m in height. Flowering is abundant with good repeat. Winter-hardy; resistant to fungal diseases. Suitable for group plantings, single specimens, and cutting.
