More information
Meilland has bred numerous rose varieties: this family introduced Mme. A. Meilland and continues to breed Hybrid Tea roses. Caprice de Meilland features classically shaped buds, elongated and tapered, on long, rigid shoots. They open slowly, showing a rich cherry color on the outer petals and a paler pink closer to the flower’s center. The petals are dense, providing strong rain resistance; the cultivar is suitable for floral arrangements and is grown commercially for cut flowers. The shrub is vigorous and disease-resistant. The fragrance won a prize at an international competition; the jury described it as “spicy clove notes complemented by a fruity aroma including blackcurrant, apples and lychee...”."
