More information
Bluhwunder, bred in Germany and better known in France as Ponderosa, is a floribunda that nevertheless forms a very tall shrub with abundant bloom used in mass plantings and in landscape. The flowers are open-cup-shaped with short, broad petals, and they appear in clusters of 5–20 on a compact, disease-resistant bush with fine dark green glossy foliage. Its ancestry includes Rosa wichurana. The blooms open delicate salmon-pink, then fade first to pink and finally to porcelain pink, particularly in heat; the reverse side of the petals is always slightly darker. This German-bred rose is more popular in France than in its homeland.
