Discovered by Unknown (before 1733).

Introduced in United Kingdom by Gilbert Slater in 1789 as ‘R. semperflorens’.

Crimson. No fragrance. Medium to large, semi-double to double, reflexed bloom form. Glandular sepals buds. Short, bushy. Large, glossy, dark green foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets. Vigorous. Requires spring freeze protection.

The ancestor of all our repeat-blooming Modern Garden Roses. Cherry red, rounded flowers on slender wood. Always in bloom.
