Developed for the English market and a medal winner in Belfast, Beauty Star attains greater size in California, reaching 2.5m, three times taller than in its native Britain. The blooms are orange, shading more scarlet in cold weather and pinker in heat, with a silvery reverse to the petals. They usually appear singly on long shoots, though small clusters also occur. The foliage is glossy, bright green, and susceptible to powdery mildew in cold climates. Extremely prickly.
