More information

This sport of the vintage rose Eugen Furst shows a stripe pattern that differs from overall speckling: instead, each petal carries a thin white margin along the edge. When the flowers open and the outer petals reflex, the margin becomes clearly visible. Color varies with weather, with blooms appearing dark red, dark pink, or cherry; in heat they fade to lilac. Flowers come in clusters of 3–9 on very short pedicels, forming dense heads with overlapping blooms. Performs better in dry climates and dry weather, with reduced susceptibility to black spot.

A rose with white-edged dark crimson petals and noticeable fragrance. Double, cup-shaped flowers appear in clusters on spiny shoots. Foliage is dark green, and the shrub has an open, irregular habit. Reaches 1.5 m in height. Hardy and tolerant of poor soils. Requires heavy pruning in midsummer to restrain growth.

A sport of Eugene Furst with dark crimson flowers edged by a thin white stripe. The shrub is upright, with long drooping shoots, typical of remontant hybrids. The color fades the day after opening. Susceptible to black spot. Flowering is not abundant; full sun is recommended. (Oliver)

Flowers up to 10 cm in diameter. Shoots are prickly. Usually freezes without shelter.
