More information
Within the rose market, new cultivars are frequently introduced in places other than the country where they were originally bred. Athena is an example—unknown in its native Germany, in Europe, and in the USA, yet widely grown and widespread in Australia. The flowers are large, crystal white, with pink-edged petals. They have long petals and slow-blooming buds that open gradually. Blooms appear singly or in small clusters (rarely more than 5) on long shoots; the long stems are suitable for cutting, and Athena is also used as a bedding rose. The bush is erect and strong-growing, with large, dark foliage.
