Multiflora hybrid, Vichura hybrid, rambler.
Pink blooms that fade with age. Strong fragrance. Large double flowers (17–25 petals) in large clusters. Repeats in waves through the season.
Flowering.
Height 300 to 400 cm.
USDA zones 6b to 9b (default). Very vigorous growth.
Remontant rose, hybrid Vichura. ‘Aristide Briand’ blooms repeatedly from June to November. The lilac‑pink flowers, pale at full opening, are double and large for their class, carried in clusters of ten to twenty. Foliage is glossy, with no fungal disease noted. A climbing rose with very vigorous growth that requires support. Awarded the IVth‑class prize by the National Horticultural Society of France. Bred from a cross of ‘Yseult Guillot’ and an unknown rose. The seed parent ‘Yseult Guillot’ shows some remontancy and fragrance and descends from ‘Veilchemblau’. ‘Aristide Briand’ belongs to the WIichuraiana and multiflora group.
Aristide Briand (8 March 1862, Nantes – 7 March 1932, Paris) was a French politician, lawyer, and diplomat, eleven times President of the Council and twenty‑five times Minister under the Third Republic, and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
