Ards Rover is a dark red Hybrid Perpetual climbing rose with crimson blooms and brown shading. Flowers are medium to large, double, and have about 25 petals with a moderate fragrance. It blooms in flushes throughout the growing season. The plant is very vigorous and grows as a climbing rose, reaching about 120 to 305 cm in height and around 185 cm in width. It is suitable for USDA zones 6b through 9b and is susceptible to mildew. The rose was bred by Alexander Dickson II in the United Kingdom in 1898 and was introduced in Australia by C. H. Halstead in 1899 under the name Ards Rover.
