Inflorescences with 3–10 buds bloom for approximately 2 weeks. Petals show varied pink tones, ranging from purple to a dusty mallow hue; brown shades appear in autumn. Although descriptions note a faint tea scent, the fragrance is detectable, especially in autumn. Used in front-row plantings. Reported to resist various diseases; however, in autumn (October–November) the lower shoots are without foliage.
