More information

This blood-red variegated rose is widely grown worldwide and performs strongly in temperate climates, where the color is most intense. The flowers are single, with dark stamens and one or two extra petals. They are red, with no white center and no difference in color between the upper and lower sides of the petals. Appearing in small clusters, sometimes singly, on long shoots, it flowers almost continuously, followed by large orange hips. The blooms hold well when cut. The bush is hardy and disease resistant, with large dark foliage and purple young growth. Cooler weather produces larger flowers with deeper color.

Very bright red flowers with yellow stamens. Train the shoots horizontally to increase the number of blooms.

Flowers are very large, well-shaped, single, about 12.5 cm in diameter, bright red. Dark green, healthy foliage provides contrast to the blooms. The flowers do not remain open for long. A winter-hardy variety; plant in full sun.

Shoots harden quickly; guide them along a support while they are still young. The plant flowers more profusely when shoots are directed horizontally. Large orange fruits appear in late autumn. (Oliver)

This continuous-flowering variegated rose bears pure red single flowers with a central cluster of yellow stamens, appearing until late autumn. The vigorous bush with dark green foliage is suitable for wall training. Shoots are secured horizontally to moderate strong vertical growth and to induce flower formation low on the plant.

Color described as blood red or glowing red. Flowers are single, large (10–12 cm), non-fading red, with no white center and no distinction between the upper and lower sides of the petals, enhancing the impression of size and color. Blooms appear in small clusters, sometimes singly, with a light fragrance. The bush is strong-growing and disease resistant, with large dark foliage, reaching up to 3 metres. The largest flowers occur in cold weather.

Few single-petalled variegated roses exist; Altissimo belongs to this group. It is not a new variety. This large-flowered Climber is widely grown for its long flowering period and bright red blooms, each with a cluster of bright yellow stamens. The flowers are not fragrant and individual blooms can reach 13 cm in diameter. They usually appear in small clusters all summer with short intervals. The vivid red petals contrast with the large, dark green foliage. Shoots are stiff and branched, making it suitable for a wall, hedge, arch, pergola, or pole. Disease resistant, but may be affected by black spot in cold, wet weather.

The large, single Altissimo flowers reach 10–12 cm in diameter and consist of seven velvety, blood-red petals surrounding yellow stamens. Blooms appear in small clusters or singly on old and new shoots all summer. Although almost scentless, the flowers last a long time, do not fade, and are good for cutting. Foliage is large and dark green. Can be grown as a large upright bush. Tolerates heat well. Disease resistant.

Shade-tolerant variety.
