More information

Although this variety is not generally classed among English roses, it descends from Rosa alba, which is evident in its foliage and growth habit. The flowers are small, single (not double), produced in large numbers throughout the season. The color is copper-pink with a soft yellow center, complemented by delicate, airy stamens. The shrub is vigorous.

Tall bush with slightly arching shoots, reaching 2.4 m in height, carrying small single flowers of copper-pink that fade to pale pink. Blooms are borne in large, open clusters. Light musk fragrance. Winter-hardy and disease-resistant; repeat-flowering. Recommended in groups of 3 or more plants. Suitable for the back of a border, where the shoots rise above other plants.

The Alexandra Rose is not a typical English rose. The flowers are single, recalling wild roses. When open, they show delicate salmon pink with a creamy center, later fading to soft pink and white. The pale stamens are notable. Blooms appear in clusters of 3–20 and suit mixed plantings. The bush is not prickly, spreading, with glossy leaves. Disease-resistant, re-blooming abundantly, so the plant is rarely without flowers until late autumn.

This variety bears simple 5-petalled flowers with yellow centers and rose-red toward the edges, fading to pink. The flowers are medium-sized, produced in large clusters, lightly fragrant, and appear almost continuously through summer and autumn. Appropriate for a mixed border, where the soft coloring and simple blooms integrate with other plants.
