Buds are oval. Flowers are cream to cream‑white, goblet-shaped becoming cup-shaped, medium-sized (about 8–8.3 cm in diameter), double, with 50–77 petals, lightly fragrant, borne in clusters. Inflorescences may contain up to 25 flowers, but are also described as medium-sized clusters of 3–7 flowers. Pedicels are strong, straight, and thick.
Leaves are large, dark green, leathery; young leaves are burgundy. Prickles are large and sparse, though the plant is also described as having few or almost no prickles. Shrubs reach 2–2.5 m in height and are slightly spreading. Flowering is abundant. The variety propagates and forms hips. It is winter-hardy. It is used in group plantings. It was introduced by the GBS in 1978.
In warmer southern conditions, petals may become scorched by heat and remain on the flower. The variety is susceptible to black spot disease.
