Rosa acicularis var. nipponensis is a species (wild) rose. Flowers are rose-pink to deep pink, single with 4 to 8 petals, mostly borne solitary, with leafy and long sepals. Average flower diameter is about 3.8 cm. The shrub is armed with thorns or prickles, has light green foliage with 7 to 9 leaflets, and typically reaches 150 to 250 cm in height and about 150 cm in width. It is very hardy and suitable for USDA zones 2b through 8b, and produces decorative hips. It is recorded as Rosa nipponensis Crép. (1875) in Section Synstylae.
