More information
Tea-hybrid roses commonly display a classic bud form, though fewer maintain it when fully open. A Caen la Prix initially shows a classical glass-like form, a hallmark of tea-hybrid roses, while the fully opened flower has petals set in an almost perfectly even circle; they overlap like tiles and bend downward. The coloration is bright cyclamen-pink with a purple tint. The purple component intensifies as the bloom ages, and the bright pink fades. Flowers usually appear singly, on long shoots, and hold well when cut. The variety is named after the art festival of the same name in the city of Caen in Normandy.
